
Wilson in the Lead after Opening Round of Stampede

Elkhorn, Neb.-- The Omaha men's golf team completed the first round of the Stampede at the Creek on Monday, Apr. 10. Play was halted with golfers thru 15-16 in the second round. Connor Wilson leads all golfers through one complete round of play.
Play was stopped at sunset before half of the field could complete round two. Play will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday with the last few holes of the second round, immediately followed by the final round. Results from today's action include only the first round.
The Mavericks divided into two teams for the Stampede at the Creek. The "A" team is in third place after a round one score of 293. They sit a stroke behind St. Thomas, in second with 292, and two strokes behind Northern Iowa, which leads the tournament with a score of 291.
Connor Wilson leads all golfers after the first round. Wilson matched his career-best, scoring 69 (-3) in round one on Monday. The redshirt senior sank six birdies over the first 18.
Mathew Halvorson and Nolan Johnson scored 73 (+1) in the opening round. Carter Doose was a stroke behind them with 74 (+2). Kurtis Rodriguez and Josh Peters shot matching scores of 75 (+3). Peters and Halvorson each recorded an eagle in the first round.
The Omaha "B" team is in sixth place with a round one total of 298. They sit four strokes behind North Dakota, in fifth with 294.
Jack Tickle led his team through the first round. Tickle recorded a career-best 71 (-1) on Monday, scoring an eagle on a par-5 hole No. 2.
Phoomintr Kaewvichien recorded a 75 (+3) in his first event of the year. Noah Hartman and Tyler Eedy were a stroke behind P.K. with matching scores of 76 (+4). Josh Bartels scored 81, tying with Christopher Atkinson, who is golfing individually. Preston Cedergren shot 87 in the opening round.
