
Mavericks Take Seventh at Stampede

Omaha, Neb.-- The Omaha women's golf team earned seventh place after the final round of the Stampede at the Creek on Tuesday, Apr. 11.Â
The Mavericks scored 302 in the second round, and 308 in the third for a total of 925 over 54 holes. They fall eight strokes behind Western Illinois, which takes sixth place with 917. Creighton won the event with a total score of 890.Â
Nicole Hansen finished with a share of 10th place after a three-round score of 227. Hansen scored 75 (+3) in the second round, and 76 (+4) in the third to earn her second top-10 finish this season.Â
Mika Miyata and Sydney Taake both scored 76 (+4) in round two, and 78 (+6) in round three. Miyata finished in a tie for 25th place with a total score of 232. Taake was two strokes behind Miyata, finishing in 33rd place with a score of 234.Â
Macarena Garcia rebounded nicely after round one. The freshman shot 75 (+3) in round two, followed by a 76 (+4) in round three. Garcia finished with a total of 238, in 38th place on the leaderboard. Emily Karmazin tied for 42nd place after a three-round total of 239. Karmazin scored 79 (+7) in the final two rounds. Emma Kirvan was two strokes behind Karmazin with a 54-hole score of 241. Maddie Simon, golfing individually, finished with a total score of 255.Â
The Mavericks remain in Nebraska for the final scheduled event of the season, the Summit League Championship. The conference tournament is scheduled for Sunday-Tuesday, Apr. 23-25 at Wilderness Ridge golf course in Lincoln. Â
