Hansen Earns Summit League Peak Golfer of the Week Honors

Omaha, Neb.--After a career tournament at the WIU Invitational, Nicole Hansen garners the Summit League Peak Golfer of the Week award.
Hansen recorded a career-best 54-hole total of 221 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., tying the second-best three-round score in program history. Nicole took first place at the WIU Invitational, finishing five strokes ahead of Western Illinois' Natalie Hooper to earn the individual medal. It is the second medal of her career, and first as a Maverick.
"Nicole obviously played well this week," Head Coach Seth Porter said. "It was great to see her implement some of the things that we have been working on, and it paid off. Hopefully this is the start to a strong finish for her and the other ladies as they all contributed to the win."
In addition to winning the individual medal, Hansen helped the Mavericks to their first team championship in program history. Omaha rallied from 18 strokes behind to break even with host Western Illinois and won the tiebreaker by having a lower third-round score.
The individual medal is the first by any Maverick since Mika Miyata took first place at the Beau Mussato Invitational on Apr. 5, 2021.
The Mavericks are back in action at Indian Creek in Elkhorn, Neb., on Monday and Tuesday, Apr. 10-11 for the Stampede at the Creek.
