
Halvorson and Mavericks Finish Fifth at Summit League Championship

Lincoln, Neb.--The Omaha men's golf team finished in fifth place after the third round of the 2023 Summit League men's golf Championship on Tuesday, May 2 at Wilderness Ridge country club in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The Mavericks scored 296 on the final day for a 54-hole team total of 904. They fell three strokes behind North Dakota State, which took fourth place with 901. Kansas City won its second Summit League Championship with a total score of 885.
Mathew Halvorson earned a spot on the Summit League All-Tournament team, taking fifth place overall. Halvorson used a 69 (-2) in the final round on Tuesday for a 54-hole total of 220. The graduate student birdied four holes while bogeying just two in round three. The All-Tournament honor is the first for Halvorson in three Summit League tournaments.
Kurtis Rodriguez also earned a top-10 finish after a three-round score of 222. Rodriguez scored 73 (+2) in the third round to take seventh place on the leaderboard.
Carter Doose, Connor Wilson and Nolan Johnson tied for 29th after matching 54-hole scores of 232. Johnson and Wilson, who both were playing in their first Summit League Championship, scored 77 (+6) in the final round. Doose recorded a 78 (+7) on day three.
The 2022-23 season comes to an end for the Mavericks at the Summit League Championship.
