Seven Omaha Teams Achieve Perfect APR Score in 2021-22
May 2, 2023 | General
Seven Omaha Maverick athletic programs earned perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores for the year of 2021-22.
In 2021-22, men's golf, men's swimming, cross country, women's golf, softball, women's tennis and track & field saw perfect scores.
This year, the national four-year Academic Progress Rate held steady at 984. 13 of Omaha's 16 programs exceeded the national four year average while men's swimming, cross country, women's golf and women's tennis maintained perfect four-year averages.
Baseball, men's basketball, men's golf, hockey, women's basketball, softball, women's soccer, women's swim & dive and track & field all found themselves above the 984 four-year average.
Men's basketball and women's soccer finished with a 995, while softball was one point behind them with a 994. Just after them was baseball who posted a 993. Men's golf finished with a 991 while hockey and track & field tallied a 990. Women's basketball and swimming both scored 986.
This is the second year of publicly reported APRs after a one-year COVID-19 hiatus. Last spring, the Division I Board of Directors approved the release of APR scores but voted to continue the suspension of program penalties.
Each academic year, every Division I sports team calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for remaining eligible and 1 point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.
