Mavericks Unveil 2023 Cross Country Schedule

The Omaha Mavericks Cross Country squad has released their schedule for the upcoming 2023 campaign. The slate features six meets including the return of the Platte River Rumble, hosted by the Mavericks in Ashland, Nebraska.
Omaha will begin their season September 1 when they race in the Augustana Twilight Meet in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Following their season debut, the Mavericks head to Lincoln, Nebraska to race in the Woody Greeno Invitational on September 16. On September 29, Omaha heads to Columbia, Missouri to race in the Gans Creek Classic. The 2nd ever Platte River Rumble is set to take place October 13th. The Mavericks placed second in last year's inaugural home meet.
The postseason begins on October 28th when the Mavericks head to Brookings, South Dakota for the Summit League Championships. The 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional is in Stillwater, Oklahoma this year with a competition date of November 10th.
"I am excited to see the product that we will be able to produce this Fall as a program. We are bringing back a core group from last year who really were able turn it on and see the results of their work come to fruition at the end of the outdoor season," Mavericks head coach Cliff Cisar said. "With the additions of Lauren and Lior as transfers for Cross Country, and a strong Freshman class, we will look to have more depth than ever and that should bring some really competitive results so as long as we trust each other and the consistency of the process."

Highlighted Returners:
- Sophomore Kamryn Ensley was the top Maverick placer in all meets last year, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Platte River Rumble, a fourth-place finish at the Summit League Championships which earned her the Newcomer of the Year award, and a 32nd place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, the highest finish from a Maverick Freshman in Division I history.
- Omaha returns four of their seven from the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship team. Those four (Kamryn Ensley, Maddie Yardley, Lily Jackson, & Emily Treptow) will look to help lead the incomers into scoring spots throughout the Fall.
- Senior Lauren Metzger, who transferred in from Memphis University at semester of the 2023 track and field season will look to add an immediate impact on the Cross Country roster after a strong Indoor & Outdoor season which she ran personal bests or near personal bests in the 1500m, Mile, 3000m, 5000m, and 10,000m.
- Senior Lior Kremer who is transferring in from SMU brings an incredible college resume to Omaha as she holds a 6k (XC) PR of 21:48.6 and is coming off one of her most successful track seasons ever as she had run PR's in both the 5,000m (17:20.49) and the 10,000m (36:18.37).
