PR's Propel Mavericks to 9th Place Finish at Woody Greeno Invitational
Sep 16, 2023 | Cross Country
The Omaha Mavericks cross country squad secured another top 10 finish this afternoon after placing 9th at today's Woody Greeno Invitational meet in Lincoln, Nebraska.
"Our top five all finished under 18:41 which is overall probably the fastest average we have had in a long time," Omaha head coach Cliff Cisar said following the race. "I'm incredibly proud but I think the biggest thing we can take away is we can still work on between 2500 and 3800 [meters], that was the emphasis I told the team. If we can really focus on being comfortable, while uncomfortable, we can stack up an even better team score from there."
Leading the way for Omaha this morning was graduate newcomer Lior Kremer. Kremer paced all Mavericks with a personal best time of 18:23.93 which was good for 48th overall. Just behind her in 49th place was Kamryn Ensley who finished with a time of 18:24.72. Freshman runner Katelyn Johnston ripped off a PR for the second race in a row finishing 58th overall with a time of 18:35.65. 16 seconds faster than her collegiate debut two weeks ago.
Rounding out the Mavericks top five was Lauren Metzger and Maddie Yardley. Metzger ran to a 65th place finish with a time of 18:39.26 while Yardley exploded for a 18:40.75 finish which shaved off 35 seconds from her previous best set two weeks ago at the Augustana Twilight.
Omaha's next race action will be in Columbia, Missouri at the Gans Creek Classic on September 29th. For full meet results, click here.
