Mavericks Primed for First 6K Race of Season at Gans Creek Classic

The Omaha Mavericks cross country team heads to Columbia, Missouri tomorrow for their first 6K race of the season. Omaha is prepped to race in the Gans Creek Classic. Tomorrow's race begins at 9:45 a.m. from the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.
The Mavericks have finished in the top 10 in both races so far this season. They placed 5th at the Augustana Twilight Meet, a program best finish, and 9th at the Woody Greeno Invite. A trio of Omaha runners finished with PR's at the Greeno Invite. The Mavericks will look to carry over that momentum into 6K action.
"Looking forward to getting to Columbia for our first 6k of the season. The team has had a really good last three weeks of training and we have the potential to run really well against a very solid field of talented regional teams," Omaha head coach Cliff Cisar said. It's a great course and the weather looks to be about as good as it could be, so I'd expect some solid performances across the board!"
Last season out at the Gans Creek Classic, Omaha powered through a tough field and placed 16th. Sophomore Kamryn Ensley set the all-time program record in the 6K, finishing with a time of 20:57.6.
