Women's Golf wins second team title of 2024 fall slate, four Mavericks place in top 10

OMAHA, Neb. - Co-hosting the Big O Classic with Creighton, Omaha women's golf stood out among the field as the Mavericks maintained the top position in the seven-team field through both days of the 54-hole tournament at Oak Hills Country Club.
The team title is the second under head coach Victoria Grasso.
Lauren Thiele of Nebraska (IND) took home the individual title at seven-over, finishing with a three-round score of 223.
In the play-six-count-four stroke play format, Omaha finished with a team score of +46 (910) on the par 72, 6,019-yard course. Katie Ruge and Emily Karmazin led the Mavericks, finishing T3 at 10-over. Ruge and Karmazin combined for 19 birdies during the event.
Karmazin was paired with her sister, Julia, of Creighton for the first round Monday morning.
Sydney Taake finished the tournament in fifth, shooting 227 (+11) and Macarena Garcia rounded-out the Mavericks in the top 10, finishing her week with a 233, including a round of 74 in Monday's afternoon session. Garcia etched Omaha's only eagle of the event, making the par 5 first in just three strokes during the second round of play on Monday.
Lavinia Romito (T21) and Elly Honnens (T23) rounded-out Omaha's lineup, while Emma Kirvan, Sarah Lasso and Maddie Simon competed as individuals.
