Mavericks Close Out Regular Season with Coyote Invite and Omaha Dive Invite

Omaha, Neb. – The Omaha Swim squad competed in the Coyote Invite and the dive team hosted the Omaha Dive Invite to close out their regular season.

Day 1

The invite started with the 200 free-relay where Omaha, a team of Elizabeth Ford, Alaina Agnew, Olivia Dendinger, and Rachel Shelstad, placed fifth with a time of 1:36.79. The men, composed of Brandon Cheong, Owen Hoak, Jace Walker, and Kyle Kulow, picked up the second-place spot in their race with a time of 1:24.51.

In the men's 500-free Nick Walkley earned fifth with a time of 4:49.03.

Hailey Matthews claimed third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.92. Mason Schroeder earned a first-place finish for the men with a time of 1:54.33.

In the men's 50-free Walker (20.90) and Hoak (20.94) placed second and third, respectively.

The women's team of Annika Bussinger, Jillian Altmairer, Matthews, and Leah Spencer earned third in the 400-relay with a time of 4:00.34. The men's team of Jackson Burrus, Kyle Peterson, Jace Walker, and Caleb Miller earned first with a time of 3:23.26.

Day 2

Day two opened with the 200 medley relay, where Omaha's women's team of Bussinger, Altmaier, Matthews, and Ford picked up third with a time of 1:47.73. The men's team of Jackson Burrus, Kyle Peterson, Jace Walker, and Owen Hoak also claimed third with a time of 1:33.28.

Matthews placed sixth in the 100-fly with a time of 58.97. Caleb Miller earned the first-place spot for the men with a time of 50.56.

Caden Murphy placed fifth in the men's 400-IM with a time of 4:20.91.

In the men's 200 free, Mason Schroeder placed first with a time of 1:43.25.

Miller had another first place finish in the 100-breast with a time of 58.14.

In the women's 100-back, Payton Krug placed ninth with a time of 59.56. For the men, Walker picked up fifth with a time of 52.17.

In the women's 100-IM Olivia Dendinger earned her the first-place finish with a time of 58.73. For the men, Walker (52.92) and Hoak (53.58) earned the fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Mason Schroeder earned first in the men's 200-back with a time of 1:50.59.

Matthews took fifth in the 100-free after a 52.85 finish. The men took first and second, being paced by Michael Johnson (46.38) and then Kyle Kulow (46.80).

In the 200-breast Heidi Lenarz claimed second with a time of 2:28.82. Ryan Korthals earned a first-place spot with his 2:06.71 finish and Caleb Miller came in right behind with a time of 2:08.73.

In the 400-free relay, Omaha's team of Morgan Baker, Olivia Dendinger, Hailey Matthews, and Leah Spencer claimed first with a time of 3:32.21. The men's team of Caleb Miller, Kyle Kulow, Owen Hoak, and Grant Schaeffer also earned first with a time of 3:04.71.

Omaha Dive Invite

Day 1

The women competed in the 1-meter on day one where the Mavericks took second through fourth. Jillian Cooper took second with a score of 245.60, Darby Drake earned third with a score of 245.20 and Isabella Price claimed fourth with a score of 240.65.

The men competed in the 3-meter where Ian Blackstock earned another first-place finish on the season with a score of 292.55.

Day 2

The women competed on the 3-meter where Isabella Price earned second with a time of 247.30.

For the men, Ian Blackstock took fourth on the 1-meter with a score of 247.90.

Overall, Omaha's women came in third with a score of 223.55 and the men took second with a score of 230.40.

"This was our final chance to compete before the conference and everyone has something they can take from the weekend to work on as we get our last training block in," said diving coach Eric Sprague. "Our scoring average was a little down and it gives us some important details to focus on before the Summit Conference Championship. Our divers have had a strong season and have been an enjoyable group to coach and we're looking forward to finishing the season strong. Congrats to Ian picking up an event win this weekend as well as congrats to Reece and Bella putting together a couple of runner-up finishes at our competition."
