Mavericks Unveil 2024 Cross Country Schedule
Aug 6, 2024 | Cross Country
The Omaha Mavericks Cross Country squad has released their schedule for the upcoming 2024 campaign. The slate features six meets including the two Platte River Rumble meets, hosted by the Mavericks in Ashland, Nebraska. Â
"This will be an exciting year for our program," said head coach Cliff Cisar. "We return an incredible ace in Kamryn Ensley who is our school record holder in the 6k distance in XC and the 5000m on the track outdoors. Along with breaking our 5000m outdoor school record, she finished last Spring very well with a fourth-place finish in the 5000m at the Summit League Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. I know her summer has been solid to prepare her for a really exciting fall. I am looking forward to seeing our team report here soon and I am excited to get to work."Â
Omaha will begin its season on Sept. 6 with its first Platte River Rumble meet. The Mavericks will head down to Lincoln, Nebraska on Sept. 21 for the Woody Greeno Invite. Â Omaha will end the month with a trip to Columbia, Missouri for the Gans Creek Invite hosted by the University of Missouri. The Mavericks will close out the regular season with another Platte River Rumble meet on October 18.Â
Postseason begins on November 2 as the Mavericks head to Vermillion, South Dakota for the Summit League Championships. The 2024 NCAA Midwest Regional will be in Peoria, Illinois with a competition date of Nov. 18. Â
"We have a strong contingent of athletes returning alongside Kamyrn, along with a new class of Mavericks who have had incredible success in the high school ranks. Emma Hain burst on the scene last year for us after switching sports from Softball to Cross Country. She competed consistently all year and made our NCAA Midwest Regional Championship team in her first year with our program. Incoming freshman Meredith Richter & Maya Bergstrom had great success throughout their senior years and will be looking to make an impact as soon as they arrive to campus here in a couple of weeks."Â
