Cross Country completes Greeno/Dirksen Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. - Omaha cross country finished ninth overall of 22 teams Saturday in the 34th annual Greeno/Dirksen Invitational held at the Mahoney Golf Course in Lincoln.
Omaha ended the day fifth in the red division heat with 125 points. Nebraska, the hosts of Saturday's meet, finished first with 36 points.
Kamryn Ensley led Omaha with a 5k time of 18:25.76 to finish 14th. No. 30 Iowa State finished second overall with 66 points and Northern Colorado was third with 117.
"We ran some tough races today," commented head coach Cliff Cisar. "The heat and humidity, as well as a soft course, always makes a race like today a grind. For the vast majority of the races, the team executed well and pushed. There were moments within when we did settle a bit or let teammates go a bit too for ahead from positions and those are opportunities for us to learn from for next week.
"Looking forward to getting a little more work in before our first 6k in Columbia, Mo. on Friday," he concluded.
