
Ruge named to Summit League Preseason Watch List, Mavericks picked fifth

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Omaha women's golf was selected fifth in the 2024-25 Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll, it was announced Thursday. Junior Katie Ruge, an Omaha native, was named to the Preseason Watch List, as nominated by the conference's head coaches.
For the 12th-straight season Denver was selected atop the eight-team league with seven first place votes, followed by North Dakota State (1) and Oral Roberts. Rounding out the middle of the pack were South Dakota State, Omaha and St. Thomas. South Dakota and North Dakota were tabbed seventh and eighth, respectively.
A transfer from Kansas, Ruge owns a 72.8 adjusted scoring average from her first fall at Omaha. Helping lead the Mavericks to a pair of tournament titles in the fall semester (MSU Payne Stewart Memorial and the Big O Classic), Ruge was a two-time Summit League Peak Performer of the Week after taking home the individual crown at the Loyola Parkinson Family Invitational and the MSU Payne Stewart Invitational.
Omaha's fall 2025 slate begins on Monday, Feb. 10 in Clemont, Fla. with the two-day Ruster Buster Match Play event hosted by Ball State at the Kings Ridge Golf Club.
The 2025 Summit League Championship will be played at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., from April 20-22.
