Four Mavs secure top-10 spots at Iowa State

AMES, Iowa – Four more Mavericks have run their way into the Omaha Track and Field top-10 list after their performances at Iowa State on Friday.Â
The Iowa State Classic started off with the 3000-meter run and two athletes running their way into the top-10, one after another. Freshman Briley Early (Leawood, Kan.) landed sixth all-time with a time and personal record of 10:01.01. Just two weeks ago, Early ran a 10:10.67 that, at the time, landed her eighth all-time.Â
Another freshman, Hope Riedel (Lincoln, Neb.) was right behind Early with a time of 10:01.80 thus making her seventh all-time and giving her a new personal best.Â
Junior Avyn Urbanski (Grand Island, Neb.) finished fourth in the 60-meter dash finals with a personal record of 7.64 seconds. This time places her seventh all-time in program history.Â
Sophomore Lilly Smith (Ankeny, Iowa) scored 3,372 points in the pentathlon to finish the day ninth all-time in program history for the event. Of the five events that make up the pentahtlon, Smith finished in the top-three for every event. She won 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.56.Â
The Mavericks ended the day with 11Â total PRs.Â
Omaha will continue competition next weekend at the SDSU Indoor Classic on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14.Â
