Mavs Snap Losing Streak With 2-2 Tie

Kalamazoo, Mich.--Nebraska-Omaha came from behind in the third period and snapped a five-game losing streak with a 2-2 tie at Lawson Ice Arena Saturday night.
The Mavericks took a 1-0 lead at 7:57 of the first period when Scott Parse connected on the power play. Andrew Wong won a faceoff in the UNO zone and flipped the puck to Mike Gabinet at the point. Gabinet then fired a shot that was blocked, regained control of the puck off the deflection and skated to his left before passing it off to Parse between the circles who beat WMU goaltender Scott Foster.
The Broncos tied the score with 1:11 remaining in the second period on a goal by Dana Lattery. WMU then grabbed a 2-1 lead :53 seconds into the third period on a goal by Vince Bellissimo.
UNO knotted the score at 2-2 on the power play when Dan Hacker redirected a Jason Krischuk slapshot from the right point at 6:08 of the final period.
The Mavs outshot the Broncos 26-19 in the contest and 57-47 for the weekend. The Maverick penalty kill unit killed off all 10 WMU power plays in the two games. The Broncos had not allowed a power play goal all season until surrendering two Saturday night.
UNO is off next weekend and will continue action against Notre Dame in South Bend on October 30-31.
