UNO Travels TO SDSU, No. 17 Augustana

The Maverick volleyball team will begin the second half of the North Central Conference season this weekend when they travel to Brookings, S.D. on Friday, Oct. 24, for a 7 p.m. match with South Dakota State. Nebraska-Omaha will then battle 17th-ranked Augustana on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in Sioux Falls.

UNO is 10-13 overall on the season and 1-6 in the NCC after dropping a North Central Conference home match last weekend to South Dakota, 3-1. The Mavericks have now lost 6 out of their last 7 matches.
Junior Amy (Sibbernsen) McLeay(4.37 kpg, .234 hit %) has been the Mavericks' top offensive threat. McLeay, who was married on Sep. 26, has been named to the all-tournament teams at both the Lynn Labor Day Classic and the UNO Tournament, and currently leads the NCC in kills per game (4.41). Sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Miller (3.05 dpg) and McLeay (2.92 dpg) lead the UNO defense.
Scouting South Dakota State
South Dakota State is 11-12 overall and tied with UNO for last place in the conference standings at 1-6. The Jackrabbits have lost nine out of their last 10 matches, with their lone win during that stretch, a four-game victory over UNO on Oct. 11 in Omaha. South Dakota State is led by senior middle blocker Kim Bostrom who is averaging 3.77 kills per game, with a .344 hitting percentage, which is second in the NCC.

Augustana is currently ranked No. 17 in the latest AVCA top 25. The Vikings are 14-6 overall and in second place in the NCC with a 5-2 conference mark. UNO upset Augustana, 3-1, on Oct. 10 in Omaha.
