Holt Shines In 4-1 Victory Over Bulldogs

Big Rapids, Michigan---Freshman goaltender Chris Holt recorded a season-high 47 saves and head coach Mike Kemp earned his 100th career victory as UNO defeated Ferris State 4-1 at Ewigleben Ice Arena Friday night.
The victory over the defending CCHA champion Bulldogs is the first UNO road victory since December 7, 2002 and first in 18 tries on the road.
Ferris State took a 1-0 lead 3:49 in the opening period when Giovanni Flamminio scored on a rebound in front of the net.
The Mavericks evened the scored at 1-1 when Scott Parse scored his seventh goal of the season 2:07 into the second period. Parse received a pass from Alex Nikiforuk at the red line from the right wing then skated into the crease to beat Mike Brown one-on-one between the legs.
UNO grabbed a 2-1 lead at 11:34 of the second stanza when defenseman Mike Gabinet connected on the power play with a wrist shot from inside the circles for his third goal of the season.
Dan Hacker then put the game away with 3:48 remaining in the game when he scored on the power play to give UNO a two-goal lead. Brent Kisio added an empty net goal with 52 seconds remaining for the fourth Maverick goal.
UNO (3-7-1, 3-5-1) will meet FSU Saturday night in the series finale at 6:05 p.m.
