UNO Heads to Minnesota for Two NCC Matches

Omaha, Neb. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha (10-17/1-10) will continue North Central Conference competition this weekend when they head to St. Cloud, Minn. on Friday, Nov. 7, for a 7 p.m. match against St. Cloud State. On Saturday, Nov. 8, the Mavericks will battle 19th-ranked Minnesota State at 7 p.m. in Mankato, Minn.

Scouting UNO:
UNO is 10-17 overall on the season and 1-10 in the NCC after being swept at home last weekend, losing 3-1 to North Dakota and 3-0 to No. 11 North Dakota State. The Mavericks have now lost 11 out of their last 12 matches.
Junior Amy (Sibbernsen) McLeay (4.26 kpg, .215 hit %) has been the Mavericks' top offensive threat. McLeay, who was married on Sep. 26, has been named to the all-tournament teams at both the Lynn Labor Day Classic and the UNO Tournament, and currently ranks second in the NCC in kills per league game (4.06). Sophomore libero Chelsea Miller (3.12 dpg) and McLeay (3.13 dpg) lead the UNO defense.
Scouting St. Cloud State
St. Cloud State is currenly 11-16 on the season and 3-8 in the NCC. The Huskies have more than doubled their win total from last season when SCSU finished 4-21. Senior setter Kari Turkowski leads the Huskies with 2.81 kills, 2.58 digs, and 10.09 assists per game, as well as an NCC-leading .380 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Jane Backes is averaging 2.91 kills and 1.96 digs per game.
Scouting Minnesota State
Minnesota State is currently ranked 19th in the nation and 7th in the NCAA North Central Region rankings with a 17-8 overall mark and a 7-4 record in the NCC. Senior All-American outside hitter Jen Jacobs leads the Mavericks with 3.59 kills and 4.20 digs per game. Senior Nichole Rose is averaging 2.96 kills and 3.24 digs per game.
