No. 3 North Dakota Defeats Mavs 103-52

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- No. 3 North Dakota's hot-shooting start was too much for the Mavericks Saturday as the Fighting Sioux registered a 103-52 North Central Conference victory at Englestad Arena. UNO fell to 4-12 overall and 0-4 in the conference in dropping its fourth straight game.
The Fighting Sioux connected on seven of their first eight shots and shot 64 percent for the game from behind the three-point arc.
Junior forward Lindsey Petersen led the Mavericks with 12 points.
The Fighting Sioux scored the first eight points in the game and held a 16-2 lead just 3:09 into the contest. UND hit seven of its first 10 three-point shots and hit 9 of 13 for the game. Overall, North Dakota shot 61 percent from the floor and outrebounded UNO 37-28.
Amy Mahlum led the 16-1, 4-0 Fighting Sioux with 21 points. Mahlum hit five of six from behind the arc. Marisa Leighton scored 18 points and Kristi Boese 17.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks suffered through one of their coldest-shooting nights, hitting just 28.6 percent the first half and 32.7 percent for the game from the floor. UNO also turned the ball over 29 times to UND's 17.
Skeeter Zoucha added nine points, Carlye Jones eight and Andrea Schoepf and JJ smith six apiece.
UNO's next action will be Friday night when it hosts St. Cloud State at Sapp Fieldhouse at 6.
