Mavs Swept By Western Michigan

Omaha, Nebraska--Western Michigan became the first CCHA team this season to sweep UNO at Qwest Center Omaha, defeating UNO 3-2 in front of 9,471 fans Saturday night.
UNO opened up scoring in the first period as Dan Hacker tallied his ninth goal of the year. WMU's Vince Bellissimo countered Hacker's goal four minutes later to knot the score at 1-1. The Broncos then took a 2-1 lead when Mat Ponto scored his second goal of the season at 13:10 of the opening period.
The Mavericks battled back to tie the score 2-2 in the third period with six minutes remaining on a goal by Scott Parse. Western Michigan then spoiled UNO's comeback 50 seconds later when Paul Szczechura scored his second goal of the series for a 3-2 lead.
Nebraska-Omaha (6-15-3, 4-12-2 CCHA) will travel to Miami (Ohio) next weekend to take on the RedHawks in a two-game CCHA series.
