No. 15 Miami Thumps Mavs, 7-1

Oxford, Ohio---Seven different players tallied goals for No. 15 Miami as the RedHawks defeated Nebraska-Omaha 7-1 at Goggin Ice Arena Saturday Night.
The RedHawks grabbed a 3-1 lead after one period on a pair of shorthanded goals and a power play goal. Derek Edwardson scored MU's first shorthanded goal at 8:09 of the first period. The Mavericks tied the score at 1-1 when Kaleb Betts centered a pass from the left halfboard and Andrew Wong tapped the puck past Brandon Crawford-West for his ninth goal of the season. Todd Grant notched Miami's power play goal at 13:38 and Andy Greene tallied the second shorthanded goal at 17:14 to end the first period scoring.
Miami opened up its offense in the second period with a four-goal outburst. Mike Kompon, Taylor Hustead, Marty Guerin and Matt Christie all scored in the second Stanza for a 7-1 lead.
Derek Edwardson chipped in a goal and three assists on the night for the Perani Cup first star of the game.
Nebraska-Omaha (6-16-4, 4-13-3 CCHA) is off next weekend and will resume CCHA play on February 6-7 against Bowling Green at Qwest Center Omaha. The February 6 game against the Falcons will be televised by NETV2.
