McLeay, Johnson Net NCC Honors

Sioux Falls, S.D. - In an announcement by the North Central Conference office, senior outside hitter Amy McLeay has been named the NCC player of the week for the week ending Oct. 3, while junior setter Christie Johnson earned NCC setter of the week honors. It marked the second honor for both players this season. UNO upset 17th-ranked Augustana last Friday, 3-2, and Minnesota State, 3-0, on Saturday, in the Mavericks' first home matches of the 2004 season.
McLeay hit .295 (40k-14e-88ta) in the two matches, while averaging 5.0 kills, 3.0 digs, and 1.12 blocks per game. She pounded a career-high 25 kills in UNO's win over Augustana. McLeay currently leads the NCC with 4.94 kills per NCC game.
Johnson averaged 13.38 assists and 1.00 digs per game while recording five service aces, including four in the win over Minnesota State. Johnson ranks second in the NCC with 12.88 assists and 0.56 service aces per game.
The Mavericks (12-4, 3-1 NCC) will entertain top-ranked Nebraska-Kearney (19-0) on Tuesday, Oct. 5, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Sapp Fieldhouse. The match will be televised live statewide on NETV2 (locally on Cox Channel 16) and webcast live at www.unotv.unomaha.edu.
