Stock Grabs Lead in NCC Tourney

Amanda Stock fired an opening round 75 Saturday at Indian Creek Golf Course to take the individual lead in the North Central Conference women's golf tournament and lift the Mavericks into second place. Teammate Tanis Hastmann, bidding for her fourth straight NCC title, shot a 76 and is tied for second.
Minnesota State, Mankato leads the tournament with a 323, two shots ahead of UNO. Augustana is third at 342. South Dakota, 346; North Dakota, 356, and St. Cloud State, 370, follow.
The second round of the 54-hole tournament will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Indian Creek. The final round will be Monday at Shadow Ridge Country Club.
The other UNO scores included Carly Froehlich 86, Ashley Sipe 88 and Allyson Yung 91.
Stock, a junior from Hermann, Mo., shot 37-38 on the 6,018-yard, par-72 layout. Hastmann shot 38-38 and is tied with Laura Kluge of Minnesota State.
