Mavs Advance To Stampede Title Game

The Nebraska-Omaha hockey team advanced to Sunday's Mutual of Omaha Stampede Championship title game with a 4-1 victory over Connecticut on Saturday night.
UConn opened scoring with a goal by Tim Olsen at 17:53 of the first period.
UNO's Rob Chappell tied the score at 1-1 with a power play goal at 8:45 of the second period. Captain Mike Lefley gave UNO at 2-1 at the 19:18 mark of the second stanza and the Mavs never looked back.
Mike Eickman gave the Mavericks an insurance goal halfway through the third period for his first career goal as a Mav. Dan Hacker then capped off all Maverick scoring and gave UNO a 4-1 lead at 11:38 of the final period.
Maverick goaltender Chris Holt had 16 saves for his first win of the season.
UNO will play Merrimack in the championship game at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Warriors defeated RPI 5-3 in the other first round game. The Engineers will play the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. in the consolation game on Sunday.
