The Mavericks face a tough opening-game assignment as they travel to meet the University of Nebraska at Kearney Monday night at 6. It will be Patty Patton Shearer's first game as the head coach of the Mavericks after leading Fort Lewis College to a four-year record of 60-49.
UNO had a dress rehearsal for the season Sunday, losing 86-57 at Nebraska in an exhibition contest.
The Mavs return eight letterwinners from last season, including the top two scorers, 5-11 junior JJ smith (11.6 points per game) and six-foot Lindsey Petersen (11.5).
