Five Named NFCA All-American Scholars

The University of Nebraska at Omaha softball team landed five student-athletes on the 2004 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar Athlete team announced today. Mavericks on the team included juniors Erin Bluml (Papillion, Neb.) and Nicole Vos (Ralston, Neb.), sophomore Shilo Jorgensen (Lafayette Colo.), and freshmen Missy Kelly (Omaha, Neb.) and Taren Tuley (Holton, Kan.).
A two-time all-North Central Conference honoree, Vos is a management information systems major. Bluml, a two-year starter, is majoring in business finance. Jorgensen, who earned all-tournament honors at the NCAA II North Central Regional, is a secondary education major. Kelly is majoring in exercise science. Tuley is an education major.
Student-athletes must acquire at least a 3.5 GPA to be eligible for the award.
The 2004 Mavericks finished with a 47-11 overall record and a No. 24 national ranking, advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the 15th-consecutive season after winning the North Central Conference regular season title. Nebraska-Omaha will open the 2005 season on Feb. 25-26 when they will travel to Kennesaw, Ga. for the Kennesaw State Tournament.
