Mavs End Losing Skid, 86-67

Junior forward Lindsey Petersen scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds Tuesday night to lead the Mavericks to an 86-67 non-conference win over Doane at Sapp Fieldhouse and end a 10-game losing string.
UNO trailed only briefly in the first half before pulling away from the Tigers with a 20-4 run late in the first half to lead at the break, 49-39.
The win lifts the Mavericks to 5-18 overall awaiting this weekend's home games with No. 9 North Dakota on Friday and No. 6 North Dakota State on Saturday. Both games tip-off at 6 p.m.
JJ Smith and Shannon Eggers each chipped in with 14 points and Leslie Ross added 13 for the Mavericks. Petersen tied her season high with the 17 points. She scored 11 the second half and hit 4 of 7 three-pointers for the game.
Doane, now 16-12, was led by Andrea Swanson's 19 points and 11 rebounds. Kate Reeson added 14 points and Nicky White scored 12.
