No. 10 Jackrabbits Race Past Mavs

No. 10 South Dakota State put five players in double figures in racing to a 97-61 victory over the Mvaericks Friday night in front of 1,800 fans at Sapp Fieldhouse. The Mavericks (5-21) will close the season Saturday night at home against Augustana.
UNO was led by JJ Smith with 12 points and Lindsey Petersen and Shannon Eggers, each with 11.
Shannon Schlagel led SDSU (21-5, 10-3) with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
The Mavericks broke out front early, scoring the first seven points of the game and held an 11-4 advantage nearly eight minutes into the game before the Jackrabbits came back. SDSU held UNO to just one field goal in over six minutes and went on a 19-3 scoring run to take command.
SDSU expanded its 43-28 halftime lead to 57-35 in the opening four minutes and shot 59.4 percent from the field to secure the win. Stacie Cizek added 16 points and a trio of Jacks, Brenda Davis, Megan Vogel and Heather Sieler all scored 12 points.
