Tuley's No-Hitter Leads Mavs to Split

KENNESAW, Ga.- Freshman Taren Tuley pitched a no-hitter in just her second collegiate outing as UNO topped Southern Indiana 10-0 at the Kennesaw State Owl Classic. The 19th-ranked Mavs tasted their own medicine in the second game when No. 8 Wayne State (MI) held them to just two hits in a 10-0 shutout. UNO finished its opening weekend at 3-2.
Tuley (2-0) struck out six and gave up just a Screaming Eagle walk in the first innning. She had the backing of 11 Maverick hits to lead the way to UNO's first shutout of the year.
In the second game freshman Cheris Kuster gave up 11 Wayne State hits as she suffered the loss. Warrior pitcher Jordan Sinclair had five strikeouts.
The Mavs will play five games in the Missouri Western tournament next weekend and then will host Northwest Missouri State March 10 in a doubleheader for their first home games of the season.
