Mavs Split in First Day of MSU Classic

Shilo Jorgensen's walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning against Minnesota State, Moorhead propelled the third-ranked Mavs to a 3-0 win and a split in their first day at the MSU American Legion Classic. The Mavs, 43-7, dropped the second game 1-0 to Concordia-St. Paul. UNO's late game scheduled with Bemidji State was one of six games rained out in the tournament.
Jorgensen's blast, the second of the year for her, sealed Jenny Pritchard's 17th win after allowing only four hits through nine innings.
In the second game Cheris Kuster gave up a solo home run in the fifth inning and had the backing of only one Maverick hit.
UNO will take on Truman State Sunday at 9 a.m. and Winona State at 11 to finish out the MSU Classic. The Bulldogs were ranked first in the North Central Region in front of the Mavs.
