UNO Powers Way to Sweep Over South Dakota

The Nebraska-Omaha baseball team belted seven home runs and scored a total of 37 runs en route to a doubleheader sweep over South Dakota at Millard West High School on Tuesday.
UNO (22-23, 13-11 NCC) trailed 5-1 in the first game before exploding for 14 runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Senior third baseman Jim Sledge tied the single season school record for home runs in the second inning with his 15th homer of the year. The Mavs pounded out 15 hits in the 18-7 win.
In the nightcap, UNO jumped out to a 15-1 lead after two innings. Freshman Justin Kilker finished with a game-high five RBI, including four RBI in the second inning. Sophomore Lee Kramolisch went 4-for-4 with four runs and three RBI. The Mavericks set single-season records for runs (19) and hits (17) in the 19-8 victory.
Six different Mavericks homered in the doubleheader. Senior Jake Wurth hit his seventh and eighth long balls of the season. Junior Sam Nocita went 6-for-7 in the two games with six runs and four RBI. Senior Jeff Sova had six RBI on the day, including a three-run home run.
Maverick pitchers struck out 17 Coyotes and walked only five in the twin bill.
UNO will travel to Augustana to play a four-game NCC series with the Vikings on Friday and Saturday.
