Apr 3, 2004 | Women's Tennis
With a perfrect 9-0 record in the North Central Region, UNO found itself in the No. 1 spot when the NCAA released its mid-season regional rankings March 29. The top two teams from each region host a four-team regional either May 7-8 or 8-9. The Mavs (13-3) earned the ranking, their highest ever, with wins over No. 3 North Dakota, No. 4 Northwest Missouri State and No. 10 Emporia State. UNO's Monday opponent, Washburn, is second on the list.
Busy Week up Next for Mavs
A showdown between regionally-ranked No. 1 UNO and No. 2 Washburn Monday afternoon in Topeka, Kan., should be a major determinant in who will host the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament. The Washburn dual will lead off one of the Mavs' busiest weeks of the season. UNO (13-3) will travel to Washbrun for the 3:30 dual before returning home to host Midland Lutheran Wednesday in the final home dual of the year. The Mavs will round out the regular season with a neutral-site match with Minnesota State, Mankato, an away match with St. Cloud State and a trip to Division I Drake.
