Apr 30, 2004 | Softball
SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. - Sophomore Jenny Pritchard threw the first no-hitter of her career to help the Mavericks to a 1-0 win in the opening game Friday of the North Central Conference tournament. Pritchard struck out three and walked just one for the fifth no-hitter the UNO staff has thrown this year. The Mavs will now take on Augustana in a 4 p.m. second-round matchup.
The Mavs were held to six hits but broke through in the third for the game's only run when Sara Sortino tripled and Kellyn Kramolisch drove her in with a single. Kramolisch and Kelsey Warning led UNO with two hits each.
Pritchard was perfect until the last inning when a batter reached on an error and then she walked a batter. She then got the last batter to ground out to seal the no-hitter and an 18-1 record.
UNO (46-7) earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament after going 12-2 in conference games.
