Mav Assistant Coach Resigns

Mark Strobel, an assistant hockey coach for the Nebraska-Omaha hockey team the past two seasons, has resigned to pursue another career opportunity outside of coaching, UNO head coach Mike Kemp announced today.
Strobel, a native of St. Paul, Minnesota, was responsible for recruiting, scouting and game night coaching duties with the Mavericks.
"My passion for hockey and coaching remains the same," Strobel said. "But at this time with a young family, I'm going to migrate into private business to be with my family more."
Strobel arrived at UNO in July of 2002 to rejoin his former college coach. Kemp was an assistant at Wisconsin when Strobel played for the Badgers from 1991-1995.
"This is a bittersweet moment for me," Kemp said. "I've had a long and very strong relationship with Mark from when he was an 18-year old high school hockey player until today and I will miss him. I am grateful for the contributions he has given our program over the last two seasons and I wish him the best of luck with his endevours outside the game of hockey."
Kemp plans to fill the position by the end of the month.
