Mavericks 4th After First Round

MARSHALL, MINN. -- Senior Tanis Hastmann fired a five-over-par 77 Saturday to lead the Mavericks into fourth place after the first round of the Mustang Invitational at the Marshall Golf Club. The final round of the 36-hole, 12-team tournament will be Sunday.
Hastmann shot 38-39--77 on the 5,840-yard layout and trails North Dakota's Alexia LaPlante by three shots.
North Dakota leads the team race with a 315, followed by Southwest Minnesota State at 326, Minnesota State, Mankato at 330 and UNO at 337.
The other UNO scores included Amanda Stock, tied for 10th at 81, Carly Froehlich 88 and Ashley Sipe and Sara Wolfe, who each shot a 91.
Maverick individuals competing in the tournament were Lindsay Newton, 88; Allyson Yung 89 and Mandy Houtz 90.
The teams will tee off in a shotgun start on Sunday at 9 a.m.
