Late Goal Lifts Mavs to 2-2 Tie

BIG RAPIDS, MICH.--Bryan Marshall's goal with 31 seconds remaining in regulation lifted UNO to a 2-2 tie with Ferris State Friday night at Ewigleben Ice Arena.
It looked as if UNO was going to come up empty for the seventh straight road game but Marshall knocked home a rebound at 19:29 to give UNO its first CCHA road point since October 30. The Mavs extended their CCHA unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1), its longest since the 2001-2002 season.
UNO grabbed a quick 1-0 lead in the first period when Brent Kisio centered a pass to Dan Hacker in the crease and he knocked home his seventh goal of the season at the 6:59 mark. The lead didn't last long as Ferris State tied the game up 14 seconds later when Matt Stefanishion connected on a one-timer from just inside the blueline.
In the second period, the Bulldogs turned away a UNO 5-on-3 adavantage for a full two minutes halfway through the period and then went ahead 2-1 shortly after the penalty kill. Matt York's slapshot deflected off of three players and over Chris Holt's shoulder for his first goal of the season at the 12:28 mark.
Holt, who finished with 34 saves in the game, made a couple crucial stops in the final period to keep it a 1-goal contest. Both teams went scoreless on the power play. UNO was 0-for-6 while Ferris State was 0-for-7.
The Mavs (10-9-2, 8-7-2 CCHA) meet the Bulldogs Saturday night in the series finale. The puck drops at 6:05 p.m.
