St. Cloud State Downs Mavs, 89-50

ST. CLOUD, MINN. -- Erika Quigley scored 28 points Shannon Francis added 22 Thursday night as St. Cloud State took advantage of a cold shooting night by the Mavericks to post an 89-50 North Central Conference victory at Halenbeck Hall.
The loss dropped the Mavs to 13-7 overall and 3-2 in the NCC, while the Huskies improved to 15-5 and 2-3.
Karen Thies led UNO with 13 points and Leslie Ross came off the bench to add a season-high 12 points and also led the team with eight rebounds.
The Huskies used a 12-1 run midway through the first half to pull away from the Mavericks, who shot just 29.,6 percent from the field the opening 20 minutes compared to SCSU's 61.3 percent. The run enabled St. Cloud State to expand a 14-9 lead to 26-10. UNO trailed, 45-24 at halftime.
The Huskies opened the second half with a 15-6 run and cruised to its sixth win in seven starts at home this season.
UNO finished the game shooting just 31 percent from the field for the game, while the Huskies cooled down to an even 50 percent. SCSU won the battle of the boards, 54-32.
The Mavericks return home to host South Dakota on Thursday, Feb. 3 at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
