Mavericks Down Cold-Shooting Bobcats

Senior forward Lindsey Petersen scored 20 points Monday night as the Mavericks got back into the win column with a 78-39 victory over cold-shooting Peru State at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse. UNO held the Bobcats to just 14.9 percent shooting for the game.
The Mavericks improved to 10-5 in their final non-conference game while the Bobcats fell to 2-14. UNO had a four-game winning streak halted last week in a 63-53 overtime loss to Colorado Mines.
Petersen scored 15 of her points the first half and the Mavericks used two 13-0 runs to take a 52-15 halftime lead. The Mavericks held the Bobcats to just one first half field goal (1-for-19) and to just two two-point field goals for the game.
Ashley Mefferd scored 8 of her team-leading 10 points the second half for the Bobcats, while Theresa Dolan added nine points.
JJ Smith contributed 14 points and seven rebounds and Andrea Schoepf 10 points for the Mavericks. Carlye Jones grabbed eight rebounds to lead both teams.
UNO opens North Central Conference play with home games Thursday against Augustana and Saturday against North Dakota at Sapp Fieldhouse. Both games tip-off at 6 p.m.
