RedHawks Complete Sweep Over UNO

The Miami hockey team earned its first-ever sweep in Omaha with a 3-2 win over Nebraska-Omaha in front of 4,124 fans at the Qwest Center Saturday night.
Miami struck first in the opening period when Matt Davis scored at 13:56 to give the RedHawks a 1-0 lead.
Nebraska-Omaha knotted the score in the second period on Scott Parse's shorthanded goal at the 3:30 mark. Miami jumped ahead again on Chris Michael's power play tally at 12:49 but Bill Thomas' rebound goal one minute later tied the score again at 2-2.
MU's Mitch Ganzak scored the game-winning goal halfway through the final period with the two teams playing 4-on-4. Nebraska-Omaha had some solid opportunites in the closing minutes to tie the game but Miami goaltender Jeff Zatkoff came up with some quality saves.
UNO failed to capture any points in a home opening CCHA series for the first time since the program joined the league in 1999.
The Mavs (2-2-0, 0-2-0) are idle next week and are on the road for its next four games, starting November 4-5 at Bowling Green.
