Mavs Meet Huskers in Exhibition Tonight

The Mavericks will get their first game competition Monday night when they travel to Lincoln to face Nebraska. Game time at the Devaney Center is 7:05 p.m. This will also be Nebraska's first game of the new season. The Mavs will then open regular season play in Disney Tip-Off Classic. UNO will meet Augusta State in the first round at 11 a.m. Friday.
Radio/TV
Most Maverick games will be broadcast over 1620 AM, KOZN, with David Gustafson calling the action. The Nebraska game will not be broadcast.

The Mavericks finished the 2004-05 season at 14-14 overall and at 4-8 in North Central Conference play.
Coaching Staff
Head Coach Patty Patton Shearer is beginning her second season as the head coach at UNO and has a 14-14 mark. Overall in five seasons in college she is 74-63. She compiled a 60-49 record over four seasons at Fort Lewis College before becoming UNO's head coach in the summer of 2004.. She is a 1990 graduate of Rocky Mountain College. Her assistants, all in their second seasons at UNO as well, are Jason Flores, Brad Schick and Maurtice Ivy.

The Cornhuskers were 18-14 last season under Coach Connie Yori and return five starters. Nebraska has won the past two meetings over the Mavericks, both pre-season exhibition contests. The Huskers won last year 86-57 and in 2003 by a 94-47 count. Nebraska leads the all-time series in regular season play, 20-10.
Looking Ahead
The Mavericks will open their home season on Tuesday, Nov. 15 against Rockhurst at 6 p.m. at Sapp Fieldhouse and on Thursday, Nov. 17 against Nebraska-Kearney at 7 p.m.
