The Lopers battled to a 24-19 lead midway through the first half before UNO went on an 8-1 run, with Thies and Lacey Geitzenhauer each scoring four, to take a 27-25 lead. The Mavs' 30-6 run over the last 10 minutes produced a 39-30 halftime lead.
UNO's shooting stayed hot in the opening minutes of the second half as the Mavericks pulled out front by 48-34 on a Thies layup five minutes after the break.
The Lopers came back, scoring seven straight points on a pair of field goals by Jonni Mildenberger and a three-pointer by Amy Bowen to close within 48-41 with 12:54 left, but could get no closer. UNO's 15-3 run, with five different players contributing, put the Mavs in command for good.
