UNO Loses 6-3 to Minnesota State, Mankato

OMAHA, Neb.--Minnesota State, Mankato extended its unbeaten streak to eight games against Nebraska-Omaha in a 6-3 victory Tuesday night at the Qwest Center.
Minnesota State, Mankato scored six times in the final two frames, including three power play goals and a shorthanded tally to improve to 3-8-2 on the year.
The only goal of the first period came from Tomas Klempa at the 17:34 mark.
Minnesota State converted three times on the power play in the second period for a 3-1 lead. Brent Cumings evened things for Minnesota State with the man advantage at 1:32. David Backes and Brock Becker followed with power play tallies at 14:25 and 16:05.
Travis Morin scored the game-winning goal early in the third to give MSMU a 4-1 lead. The teams would trade tallies throughout the rest of the contest as the Minnesota State Mavericks received markers from Ryan Carter and Mick Berge while the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks got goals from Scott Parse and Phil Angell.
Parse extended his point streak to 11 games and led the team with a goal and an assist.
UNO outshot Minnesota State 39-22 in the contest.
Nebraska-Omaha (5-6-0, 3-5-0 CCHA) will continue non-conference play this weekend when they travel to Troy, NY to take part in the HSBC Holiday Tournament. The Mavericks will face Providence at 3:00 p.m. (central time) on Friday.
