Hampton Inn Classic Next for Mavs

The Mavericks got a busy week started with a win Tuesday night at Upper Iowa and now will turn their attention to hosting the Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic Friday and Saturday at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse. UNO will play Iowa Wesleyan and Grand View, with game times both nights at 6 p.m.
Radio/TV
Most Maverick games will be broadcast over 1620 AM, KOZN, with David Gustafson calling the action. The Hampton Inn Classic games will be on the air, with a pre-game show at 5:50.
For the Record
UNO is 4-2 on the season and has posted back-to-back wins for the first time this year. UNO is coming off wins over Nebraska-Kearney Nov. 17 and Upper Iowa Nov. 22. The Mavs have won three of their past four games.
Coaching Staff
Head Coach Patty Patton Shearer is beginning her second season as the head coach at UNO and has a 18-16 mark. Overall in five seasons in college she is 78-65 She compiled a 60-49 record over four seasons at Fort Lewis College before becoming UNO's head coach in the summer of 2004. She is a 1990 graduate of Rocky Mountain College. Her assistants, all in their second seasons at UNO as well, are Jason Flores, Brad Schick and Maurtice Ivy.
The Opponents
Iowa Wesleyan College will come to the tournament with a 4-2 record. The Tigers play in the Midwest Classic Conference and were 10-22 last season. Grand View is 2-4 before playing Northern State in Friday's first game of the tournament. The Vikings were 15-18 last season.
