Mavs Fall to Regis, Will Play for 3rd at Disney

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The Mavericks fell 62-51 to Regis Saturday evening in the second round of the Disney Tip-Off Classic. Nebraska-Omaha (1-1) will now play Sunday at 3 p.m. Central time against Columbus State in the third-place game.
The Mavericks were led in scoring by Cayla Hargrove with 12 points and JJ Smith with 10. Smith and Lacey Geitzenauer led UNO with eight rebounds. The Mavs out shot Regis 34.4 percent to 32.7 percent and were down by just two at halftime, but twin sisters Diana and Denise Lopez combined to score 48 points to lead the Rangers (2-0) to the championship game. Regis sent the Mavs to the free throw line just eight times and took advantage of 26 UNO turnovers.
