Michigan Tops Mavs, 4-2

ANN ARBOR, Mich.--The Nebraska-Omaha hockey team's four-game winning streak was ended Friday night with a 4-2 loss to No. 7 Michigan in front of 6,685 fans at Yost Ice Arena.
No. 20 UNO (9-7-0, 5-6-0 CCHA) will meet Michigan (10-5-1, 6-3-1 CCHA) in the series finale on Saturday at 6:35 p.m.
The Mavericks jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Adam Bartholomay's shot from the right circle at 6:27 of the opening period. Michigan evened the score at the 11:48 mark on a power play goal by Brandon Kaleniecki and took a 2-1 lead six minutes later when Jason Dest scored shorthanded.
Michigan stretched its lead to 3-1 when Travis Turnbull scored the only goal of the second period at the 6:05 mark.
UNO made it a 3-2 game in the final period when Rob Chappell scored his first goal of the season at 3:02.
The Mavericks' Mick Lawrence appeared to have tied the game with 2:54 remaining in regulation when he knocked in a rebound during a scrum in front of the net but referee Steve Piotrowski ruled that a whistle had been blown before the puck crossed the line.
With the victory, Michigan snapped its four-game losing streak. UNO's Scott Parse had his 15-game point streak snapped in the loss.
