Mavs Finish Day with Split

ORLANDO, Fla.--With the offense starting to produce for the Mavericks, UNO was only able to finish day two of the Rebel Spring Games with a split; a 3-1 win over Southern New Hampshire and a 5-4 extra-inning loss to Wayne State (Mich.).
Versus the Penmen from Southern New Hampshire, UNO scored early, posting all three runs within the first three innings. SNHU fought back scoring its lone run in the sixth, but the Mavericks held off the Penmen.
UNO junior Jenny Pritchard fanned seven picking up the victory to run her record to 4-0.
Lauren McArthur recorded a double and a triple in the win.
In the second contest, Wayne State (Mich.) avenged a late inning loss to UNO at the Kennesaw Owl Classic late Feb. and defeated the Mavs in another one-run game 5-4.
The Mavericks tied the game in the top of the seventh 4-4, only to see Wayne State score a run in the extra frame.
Lauren McArthur and Sara Sortino each doubled, while Katie Novotny added a triple.
UNO (8-6) who is off to its worse start in 10 years, will continue at the Rebel Spring Games facing Wisconsin-Parkside at 10:40 a.m. followed by No. 22 Missouri Western at 2:20 p.m.
