Leon Leads UNO To Romp Over Washburn

TOPEKA, KAN. -- Junior Chad Leon went 5-for-7 with four RBIs, two triples, and three runs scored to lead the UNO Mavericks to a 17-3 win at Washburn in non-conference baseball action Wednesday afternoon.
With the score tied at two, the Mavericks exploded for six runs on seven hits in the top of the fourth inning to take command of the game.
UNO closed the door on the Ichabods by scoring eight runs on five hits in the top of the ninth inning.
Nebraska-Omaha recorded 19 hits on the day, with seven Mavericks notching at least two hits in the game.
Maverick pitchers Nick Russell, Tim Huber, and Weston Cooper allowed just seven hits and one earned run in the victory.
Nebraska-Omaha improved to 12-4 on the season. The Mavericks will host Minnesota Crookston on Thursday, Mar. 17, in a 12 p.m. doubleheader at Iowa Western Community College.
