Mavs Sweep Minnesota-Crookston

Third baseman Troy Cloyd stroked four singles and drove in three runs in the first game and added a pair of two-run homers in the nightcap Thursday, pacing the Mavericks to 16-9 and 21-4 non-conference wins over Minnesota-Crookston.
The wins, at the Iowa Western Community College field in Council Bluffs, Iowa, boosted the Mavericks to 14-4 on the season. The Golden Eagles fell to 0-8.
UNO broke the first game open with five-run attacks in each of the second and third innings. First baseman Lyle Lafountain had a pair of run-scoring singles and second baseman Matt Meyer had an inside-the-park home run.
Sophomore right-hander Cody Butt earned the win, giving up one earned run in four innings.
In the second game, the Mavericks hit six home runs and used a 12-run fifth inning to put the game away. Eleven different Mavs scored in the inning, which featured two-run homers by Cloyd, center fielder Chad Leon, right fielder Min Sung and pinch-hitter Bryan Frew. James Adams added a three-run shot in the sixth and Cloyd belted a two-run homer in the first.
Left-hander Josh Lundin earned the win, striking out seven in four innings.
The Mavericks are next in action Saturday when they play a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Emporia State.
