Mavs Take Doubleheader from Missouri Southern

JOPLIN, MO. -- Troy Cloyd and Nick Russell both fired shutouts Friday as UNO swept a doubleheader from Missouri Southern State by identical scores of 2-0.
In the opener, Cloyd allowed only two hits and struck out seven to improve to 3-2 on the season. Min Sung and Lyle Lafountain each had RBI singles for the Mavericks.
Lafountain also provided the offense in the night cap with a bases loaded single in the third inning. Nick Russell allowed only two hits and struck out six MSSU batters for his second win of the season.
The Mavericks (16-8) snapped a four-game losing streak with the victories.
UNO is scheduled to play a doubleheader at Pittsburg State on Saturday.
