Mavs Drop Two at Tourney

St. Joseph, Mo.--After scoring 15 runs day one at the Missouri Western Invitational Tournament, the University of Nebraska-Omaha softball team was held scoreless in indentical 2-0 losses versus No. 19 Emporia State and Washburn.
In game one against Emporia State, UNO was unable to counter the Hornets two-run third, and finished the game with only three hits. Hornets starting pitcher Melissa Stevens fanned 13 Mavericks as she recorded the win.
Versus Washburn, the game was scoreless until the top of the seventh when Washburn pushed across two runs. The Mavs were unable to string together hits in the loss, despite outhitting the Lady Blues 8-3. Freshman Cayte Billman took the loss, giving up only three hits.
Next up for the Mavs(6-4) will be a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Northwest Missouri State.
